How to display Sharepoint 2007 List Column Value in Search Results

Things to do on the sharepoint server 

  1. Go to Central Administration > Shared Services > Search Settings > Metadata Property Mappings
  2. Click “New Managed Property”
  3. Key in “Property Name” and “Add Mapping”
  4. Search for the crawled property name you want to add, and add it!
  5. Run a “Full Crawl”

Things to do on the Sharepoint Site

  1. Add “Search Box” and “Search Core Results” Web Parts
  2. “Modify Shared Web Part” for “Search Box”
  3. Target search results page URL > Enter path to page that contains the “Search Core Results” Web Part
  4. “Modify Shared Web Part” for “Search Core Results”
  5. Results Query Options > Selected Columns
  6. Add tag for column you want to display
  7.  Modify XSL to display Column (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb428855.aspx)
